Established in 2011, the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) is a public, non-profit higher education institution based in the town of Inverness, Scotland, with a population between 10,000 and 49,999. UHI operates a network of branch campuses across the region, including locations in Inverness, Lerwick, Dingwall, Stornoway, Kirkwall, and Perth. Officially recognised and chartered by the Privy Council, UHI is a coeducational university with a medium-sized student body, enrolling between 7,000 and 7,999 students according to uniRank.

UHI offers a diverse range of programs leading to formally recognised qualifications, including pre-bachelor’s awards (certificates, diplomas, foundation degrees), as well as bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees across multiple disciplines.
