Founded in 1897, the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban environment of Paisley, a small city in Scotland with a population between 50,000 and 249,999. UWS also operates branch campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton, and London. Officially recognized by the Privy Council, UWS is a large coeducational institution with a student population ranging from 10,000 to 14,999.

UWS offers a wide array of academic programs leading to officially recognized qualifications, including pre-bachelor’s awards (such as certificates, diplomas, foundation and associate degrees), bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral qualifications across multiple fields of study.
